Ashes of Urh'Rok 1.0.1 is out!

My dear minions,

 

I have published an update to Ashes of Urh'Rok that fixes and enhances quite a few things and in a burst of great originality I have decided to nickname it "1.0.1" :)

If you are using ToME 1.2.5 it should autoupdate it for you. Steam people will need to wait an hour or two until I finish uploading the build there.

 

Changelog:

  • Fixed the Black Wall
  • Fixed Revenant
  • Blighted Path does not charge up when hitting walls
  • Demon Seed cant be used by NPCs
  • Nerfed Blood Shield from 35% flat armor to 15%
  • Fixed Acid Cone to not ask for a target and gave it sane damage numbers
  • Changed the penetration offhand seeds to give a resist+flat damage armor for that element
  • Changed the Silence on thaurhereg to an on hit proc
  • Fixed Corrosive Slashes having armor pen and changed it to a 15,65 CTL
  • Replaced Champion of Urh Body bonus with +strength, max life, and magic
  • Buffed forge-giant reduction effect to 40%
  • Fixed Share the Pain with traps
  • Dark Reign and Dread End are both limited to 1 proc/turn, but proc on damage >10% of the target's max HP in addition to kills
  • Dread End now gives a negative life bonus to Dark Reign at level 3
  • Dread End pools now spawn on top of random enemies in radius 8
  • Dread End and Erupting Darkness no longer have friendly fire of any kind
  • Blood Pact redesigned: it now costs 10% of your current life and gives 100% darkness damage conversion for 1 turn and, if Dark Reign is already up, gives stamina/vim per stack
  • Revamped Haste of the Doomed to allow you to teleport up to 4 spaces twice within the same turn
  • Fixed the Searing Halls level 2 sometimes not having a portal "down"
  • Fix Cauterize Spirit cleansing "other"
  • Make Cauterize Spirit debuff stop resting
  • Nerf Hope Wanes by around 1 turn and change to other so it can't be extended in any way
  • Fixed overwhelming fear
  • Nerfed somewhat the first zone npcs
  • Inferno Nexus and Devouring Flames reworked and merged.
  • New Heart of Fire Talent: Fiery Aegis
  • Fearscape Aura cut and replaced with Maw of Urh'Rok.
  • Incinerating Blows stun now has cooldown
  • Some doombringer damage nerfs
  • Burning Sacrifice changed somewhat to go with changed incinerating blows.
  • Fix Fearscape shift aoe dot going through walls
  • Fix fiery grasp

Many years ago I started working on Tales of Maj'Eyal, it has always been a pleasure and privilege to create a game loved by so many and today I am pround to say a new stone has been put on ToME's wall: Ashes of Urh'Rok, the first expansion to the game has been unleashed upon the world!

 

Discover the reasons behind the demons increasing presence on Eyal, play as two new classes, a new race or simply find new potent artifacts. Play with new events and explore the world of Eyal from a new point of view!

The board is set, it is up to you to move the pieces now.

  • Custom made tiles can now be used (by donators), simply follow the howto in the birth dialog
  • Fixed Frenzy killing the user
  • Lore can now have a template=true field that shows it must be processed first
  • Status effects in tooltips will show charges, if any
  • New hooks "Zone:loadEvents" and "Boot:loadBackground"
  • GameState:findEventGridRadius also returns the center of the grids
  • Wraithform is now instant, takes less vim and provides better bonuses to armour and defence
  • Fixed escort quests to correctly gran mental saves
  • Combat:attackTargetWith also returns damage
  • Addons can add a new splashscreen by having a special boot-screen folder
  • Losgoroth are enemies to all
  • Particle effects attached to an entity can be translated
  • Building map generator can have margins now

Announcing: Ashes of Urh'Rok

My minions, I am back from my little vacation and have some exciting news for you!
 

Eyal orbits a star called Shandral, but it is not the only world to do so. A world known as Mal'Rok to its inhabitants also orbits it, a world famous for many creatures that hail from it: creatures that people on Eyal call "demons".
The demons have one goal: the invasion of Eyal, by any means necessary.

 

Ashes of Urh'Rok will be the first expansion for Tales of Maj'Eyal. The idea for it is old, as is some of the code, but was on hold until I got the few remaining ideas needed, and I have them now!
 
So rather than delay it until after the Orcs campaign (which is bigger), I have decided to quickly finish it and release it to my minions as soon as possible (which is soon, even if I'll never give a date for a release ;) ).
 

It is a "small" expansion, comparatively to the orc campaign, yet brings some fun features:
 
- Play as a Doombringer class, a master of destruction and pain that binds demonic forces to channel power through her massive two handed weapon.
 
- Unlock the Demonologist class, a sword & board fighter that enhances her battle prowess by summoning demons and grafting them onto her weapons and armour. Powerful demonologists can even call upon the echoes of the Spellblaze itself.
 
- Play through a new starting zone, the Searing Halls, to escape your demonic masters.
 
- Survive the abduction attempts from the demons and discover new zones.
 
- Discover the real reason for the demons' wrath toward Eyal with the various lore pieces to be found.
 
- Experience the "tinker" system, originally developed for the orcs campaign, that lets you attach items to your equipment.
 
- Unlock multiple demonic "cosmetic" features for many races.
 
- Earn new achievements.
 
- Find new demonic artifacts.
 
- New custom made music and graphics.

 
Now my minions, you simply need to wait patiently in line while your local God of Darkness prepares to unleash the Ashes of Urh'Rok upon you!
 

One last thing my minions, to whet yet another appetite: work has also begun on the class that will eventually replace the Stone Wardens as the donator bonus: Possessors. No I will not say one more word ;)

Achievements / Unlocks online fixed

It seems that since the 12th or so the online profile had stopped updating its database of unlocks and achievements.
This is now fixed and your local database should update the online one next time you login ingame.

Sorry for the annoyance.

Tales of Maj'Eyal is now also available on Itch.io

Itch.io is a newcomer in the online game stores business but it's a very nice one.
And made by a single guy. In a lua dialect.
