(Note that the damage output of a summon is determined when it first appears, and does not change if you turn Meditation on/off afterwards. So you can turn on Meditation after creating your summons and they will continue to fight at full damage; on the other hand, if you summon something while Meditation is still on, turning it off won't fix the problem for that summon.)&lt;br /&gt;

[[Summoning (distance) (category)|Hydras]] are very powerful, but they won't use their breath attacks if you would be hit. So for best results, try to stay behind the hydra.  (Hydras have been observed to occasionally use their breath attacks when their summoner is at the edge of the AoE range.  This can be lethal for the summoner, so again, try to stay behind the hydra).&lt;br /&gt;

You don't get any monster detection capability, but you can fake it by using [[Summoning (utility) (category)|Summon Control]] on an expendable summoned monster (and, face it, they're all expendable). Take control of something and use it to scout ahead.&lt;br /&gt;

By midgame, you'll want to use mostly [[Fire drake (talent)|drakes]], as they are at once great ranged nukes, good tanks and OK melee combatants. Mindstars are one-handed weapons with many unusual properties.  Any character can wield a mindstar (or two), but making the most of them requires knowledge of the [[Mindstar_mastery_(category)|Mindstar Mastery]] talents.  [[Summoner]]s and [[Oozemancer]]s begin with knowledge of this tree.  Other classes may get it by purchasing the tree at the gem store in [[Zigur]]. It costs 100 gold to buy it locked, 500 gold to unlock at mastery 1, and an additional 750 gold to increase the mastery by 0.2. Characters may also learn this tree by betraying an [[escorts|Alchemist escortee]] to the Ziguranth.&lt;br /&gt;

Wield the set-forming mindstar in one hand, a mindstar it can form a set with in the other, and use the set-forming mindstar.  The two mindstars will become a matching set.  They can be reactivated later to form a different set.  (In some cases, like a Wyrm's paired by Harmonious and then paired to Flames, both sets will remain valid.)&lt;br /&gt;

Mindstars are one-handed weapons with many unusual properties.  Any character can wield a mindstar (or two), but making the most of them requires knowledge of the [[Mindstar_mastery_(category)|Mindstar Mastery]] talents.  [[Summoner]]s and [[Oozemancer]]s begin with knowledge of this tree.  Other classes may get it by purchasing the tree at the gem store in [[Zigur]]. It costs 100 gold to buy it locked, 500 gold to unlock at mastery 1, and an additional 750 gold to increase the mastery by 0.2. Characters may also learn this tree by betraying an [[escorts|Alchemist escortee]] to the Ziguranth.&lt;br /&gt;

Unlike daggers, mindstars wielded in the &amp;quot;off&amp;quot; hand do not incur a damage penalty.  However, at first the [[damage]] done by a mindstar as a weapon will be quite low.  A tier 1 (mossy) mindstar has only 30% [[Willpower]] + 10% [[Cunning]] damage multipliers.  Unlike other weapons, these multipliers increase on higher tier mindstars.  Tier 2 (vined) mindstars have 35% Willpower + 15% Cunning, and so on up to tier 5, with 50% Willpower + 30% Cunning.&lt;br /&gt;

The [[Psiblades (talent)|Psiblades]] talent will multiply the mindstar's base damage multipliers by a factor of 1.3 to 1.8 or so (depending on talent level).  With 5 points in Psiblades at 0.8 mastery, a tier 5 mindstar will have damage multipliers of 85% Willpower + 51% Cunning. (Compare to 100% Strength for most one-handed weapons, and remember that mindstars can be dual-wielded with no penalty.)&lt;br /&gt;
