The '''Cave of Hatred''' is a dungeon in the [[Embers of Rage campaign]]. You can enter it after encountering Crimson Templar John on the world map at the bridge near the destroyed [[Sunwall Outpost]]. In order for him to spawn, you must have the [[Ring of Lost Love]] in your inventory (i.e. when you pick it up after killing [[High Sun Paladin Aeryn]], you must move it out of your [[APE]] instead of melting it). You can leave this zone at any time, but you cannot reenter because John vanishes from the world map after first entering.

You'll have to defeat six different mini-boss shadows, which are found in the side rooms. They are shadows of pain, hate, despair, remorse, guilt, and anger. The shadows of pain, hate, and despair generate some lore on death. Then you'll once again face [[Outpost Leader John]], now back from the dead as [[Crimson Templar John]]. He spawns in the central room when all six shadows are killed.

After defeating Crimson Templar John, you will be presented with a choice of whether to destroy him to empower the Ring of Lost Love, or to bind him to the ring. If you destroy him, the ring will grant improved bonuses while worn (see the ring page), and if you are playing a [[Sun Paladin]], you will unlock the {{t|Fallen}} class evolution (if you haven't unlocked it another way). If you bind him to the ring, the ring will gain the ability to summon him to fight on your side (for a duration of 12 turns), and you will receive the [[achievement]] '''Do not go gentle into that good night'''.

This zone has no normal enemies in it, but it can have a golden chest or an old battlefield event.

The [[Tinkers|schematic]] for [[Rogue's Gallery]] always spawns in this zone.
