Each Category Points can be used to
- Unlock a Talent Categories that in turn enables learning of Talents
- Get access to up to 2 new inscriptions/runes slots. (The Ogre race may purchase an extra inscription slot)
- Increase the Mastery of an earlier unlocked Talent Category (only once)
The use of a category point is permanent and can not be undone.
Gaining Category Points
All characters will gain a new category point upon reaching levels 10, 20 and 34
Other ways to gain extra category points are
- The Cornac subrace of humans get one extra category points
- In the main campaign Age of Ascendancy: Drink the Wyrm Bile dropped by Corrupted Sand Wyrm in Sandworm Lair after returning from the Far East
