Zone Information

Ardhungol is a zone in the Far East, near the Gates of Morning. Entrance to the zone is only possible upon accepting the Eight legs of wonder quest, which can be started by talking to Melnela in the Gates of Morning.

The zone contains a number of different enemies, many of which are themed around spiders, such as weaver young. Other common enemies are trolls, vampires, and wyrms (including full-size storm and venom wyrms). The third level of the zone is much smaller than the others at around 20x20.

Ardhungol contains unstable wormholes as a terrain feature. Each floor tile has a 4% chance of being an unstable wormhole. Unstable wormholes can be stood on like normal terrain. They can apply a special effect when they are hit by a spell talent. The chance of causing an effect is proportional to the damage the spell would deal, and reaches 100% at 300 damage. (The damage value used for this chance does not include the caster's damage increases or penalties, etc.) If there is an actor on top of the wormhole, the effect is to randomly teleport them away within 20 range, with the message "The wormhole absorbs the energy of the spell and teleports NAME away!". (This does not check teleport immunity or any saves.) If there is no actor on top of the wormhole, the effect is to deal Manaburn damage equal to half of the spell's damage (min 1, max 200) in a radius 2 ball around the wormhole, with the message "The wormhole absorbs the energy of the spell and explodes in a burst of nullmagic!".

Completion of the zone results in completing the Eight legs of wonder quest, and therefore unlocks the Sun Paladin class.
