Zone Information

The Last Hope Graveyard is, not surprisingly, located near Last Hope. It appears on the map only after you've spoken to Ungrol the Alchemist and accepted his second quest, And now for a grave.

The graveyard consists of two levels. The top level has tombstones, which you may read, but which have no in-game effect. The second level is one long hallway with several smaller rooms containing coffins. Each coffin can be opened, for a random result:

  • There is a 60% chance that it will contain a rare undead monster (with 1 random class).
    • In some older versions, the chance of containing an undead was only 50%, and there was a 10% chance of being cursed (granting you the Cursed Aura talent tree, unlocked and with 1 point in Defiling Touch); however, the chance to be cursed has been disabled in 1.0 due to bugs it was causing.
  • There is a 35% chance that it will contain nothing.
  • There is a 5% chance that it will contain an artifact as treasure.

At the end of the hallway is the boss, Celia. Celia is a Necromancer that summons undead. When Celia first gets hit, the stairs disappear, all of the doors shatter into pieces, and any coffins you did not already open will now open, and the rare undead monsters will flood out. When opened this way, the coffins have a 100% chance to contain undead, and the undead will be marked as Celia's summoned minions. Initially, Celia's room cannot be teleported within, but this property is removed once Celia is first hit.

Upon killing Celia, if the player already read all 4 pieces of the lore "how to be a necromancer", they will unlock Necromancer as a playable class. (The player can read them in the Sher'Tul Fortress's library after finding them on a previous character.) Alternatively, if the player has started the quest From Death, Life and are on the way to Lichdom, they will carve out Celia's heart and use magic to keep it beating, for use in the Lichform ritual.

After the boss fight, you will need to use the Rod of Recall to leave, because the stairs are gone.

To have an easier time beating this boss, enter the mausoleum at level 15 and then leave without going to the boss's room. This sets the boss's level to a lower value and you can come back later to defeat her.

Tip: If you're trying to unlock Necromancer it is a lot safer to do this after you return from the East than prior to going there.
