The Deconstruction of Falling Stars
The Deconstruction of Falling Stars is a quest in the Embers of Rage campaign. The player is granted this quest when they complete Children of Garkul, Unite!, or else when High Sun Paladin Aeryn is defeated for the first time.
The goal of this quest is to destroy the Sunwall, by attacking the Gates of Morning, destroying their farportal to cut off their reinforcements from the west, and killing their leader, High Sun Paladin Aeryn.
Aeryn is first encountered at the entrance to the Gates of Morning, a small passage through the rock to the west of the town. When she is first defeated, the gate to the town opens, and instead of Aeryn dying, she casts an invulnerability shield and retreats through the town, into the Caves of Morning under the mountains to the east of the town. (The entrance to the caves also only appears when Aeryn begins to retreat.)
The farportal is in the town, in the same position as where it was in the Age of Ascendancy campaign. There is a nearby journal on the ground, which is a representation of a herald who emerges from the farportal bearing a taunting message from King Tolak and then retreats back through the portal. The player character thinks better of responding to King Tolak's provocation, and instead destroys the farportal. Triggering this is not necessary to complete the quest. Needs verification
After fighting through Sunwall forces to bottom of the caves, the PC finds Aeryn again, this time with 35% more life and dealing 35% more damage. Killing her will complete the quest.
Upon completing the quest, the player will be granted the quest Hunter, Quarry, the G.E.M. will emerge on the world map outside the Gates of Morning, and the player will earn the achievement The High Lady's Destiny (Finale). All stores will also be restocked. Additionally, Aeryn will drop the Ring of Lost Love. If the ring is in the player's inventory when they return to the world map, Crimson Templar John will appear on the world map by the bridge to the Clork Peninsula (near where the Sunwall Outpost was). He acts as an entrance to the Cave of Hatred.
Effects of Completing Other Quests
If A Ritch Party has been completed, in levels 2 to 4 of the Gates of Morning (i.e. the first 3 levels of the Caves of Morning), the caves will be full of newly-hatched Ritches that have tunneled into the caves and scrambled the terrain. The Ritches are hostile to both the player character and the Gates of Morning faction. Otherwise, each of those levels will have 10 extra randbosses from the Gates of Morning faction (the Sunwall or their reinforcements from the Allied Kingdoms).
If Stargazers has not been completed, in levels 2 to 4 of the Gates of Morning, the caves will contain sun orbs and moon orbs from the Sunwall Observatory. These are immobile enemies that attack with the Solar Orb and Lunar Orb talents, respectively.
If both A Ritch Party and Stargazers were not completed, when the player completes this quest, they will earn the achievement An Other Brick in the Wall.
