Overview

Stats (statistics) are the attributes shared by every character and NPC. They six primary stats are...

and there is a hidden stat:

Each stat has a base value and current value. The default base value for the six primary stats is 10. This base value can be adjusted by class modifiers and improved by using stat points earned from leveling up.

Players will earn 3 stat points per level, which can be freely assigned to any of the six basic attributes. In addition, at any given level, a character's stat has a soft cap of (character level * 1.4 + 20), and a hard cap of 60. NPC stats can go higher than 60 for each level they have above level 50. The minimum for each stat is 1.

Luck is a hidden stat with a default base value of 50. It cannot be raised directly by stat points. Only talents and items can change Luck.

The current value for each stat is the base value plus additional modifiers from equipment, talents, potions, escort rewards, etc. etc.

Most talents and many runes and infusions are directly or indirectly associated with one or more of these stats, so the effectiveness of the talent or item will improve as the stat increases.

Many talents require a certain attribute level to be able to learn them. Most equipment also require certain stat levels to be worn.

Weapon combat damage is partially determined by these attributes as well, depending on the weapon being used. Look for the "Uses stats:" line on the weapon to see which stats contribute directly to its effectiveness.

The maximum number of base stat points that can be obtained by the player character in campaign mode is as follows:

Maximum Base Stat Points

  • 60 base points from 10 points in each of six stats at start
  • 9 points from class modifiers at start
  • 3 points from level 1 available to distribute at start
  • 147 points for leveling up to level 50
  • 10 bonus points upon reaching level 50
  • 3 points from consuming the Heart of the Sandworm Queen, or its corrupted counterpart
  • Not included in total above: 9 points on average from consuming the Wyrm Bile

Willpower

Willpower defines your character's ability to concentrate. It increases the capacity of several resources, and your chance to resist mental and spell attacks.

Gains per point:

Max Mana: 5.00
Max Stamina: 2.50

Cunning.png

Cunning defines your character's ability to learn, think, and react. It allows you to learn many worldly abilities, and increases your mental capabilities and chance of critical hits. It also increases your damage with slings.

Gains per point:

A character's summoning limit is also equal to (Cunning / 10) rounded down.

Cunning modifies the effectiveness of many talents.

Luck

Luck gives small bonuses to many combat attributes. Unlike other attributes, Luck is not shown on your character sheet, and is a 'hidden' attribute.

The default value for Luck is 50. Gains per point above 50:

Accuracy: 0.40
Defense: 0.40
Critical hit chance: 0.30
Physical save: 0.175
Mental save: 0.175
Spell save: 0.175

(i.e. The default 50 Luck gives no benefit, and you will get a penalty at less than 50 Luck.)

In addition, each point above 50 gives a 0.2% chance to avoid your own AoE effects (similar to Spellcraft), and if you know Unseen Actions (note: only found on NPCs), increases the chance to not break stealth by 0.2%. The Defense given by Duck and Dodge is proportional to your Luck.

Luck also has a few more minor effects:

  • Luck does not affect the chance to get a hostile encounter on the world map (which is always 2%), but if you do not get a hostile encounter, the chance of getting a harmless encounter is 1% + (Luck * 0.07%).
  • The chance to be able to apologise to Ukllmswwik the Wise (and avoid fighting him) if you tell him you spoke with Slasul is (30 + Luck)%.
