It would be better if death took you to the world map. Sure it is nice to be taken to the stairs when it was a small mistake, but the number of times I have lost 3 lives in a row and been unable to escape.

Next beta will see you banished to the Eidelon plane
Not exactly sure what will happen there, but you'll get a chance to cooldown your skills, and get ready (to an extent) for where you died.
