Allows you to choose which escorts you will encounter at the start of the game.
You may change the future encounters in the game menu (Esc).

There is an option to choose a random escort in case you just wanted to guarantee some unlocks before continuing with the base game's behavior.

Note: You're only supposed to be able to choose the lost tinker once. (Must have the Embers of Rage DLC and unlocked by playing in the Orcs campaign)
Note: Unfortunately the only time that addons can get the possible escort types is after the random escort quest is assigned.
This means escorts added by other addons will not be available for selection, but will still be possible to find using the random selection.

Many in Maj'Eyal have heard of "demons", sadistic creatures who appear seemingly from nowhere, leaving a trail of suffering and destruction whereever they go. Their Fearscape floats far above the skies, watching and waiting, but not idly; their agents scout the land, their legions build up their forces, and their scholars develop new spells and strategies. As the barrier between our worlds begins to crack under their scrutiny, helpless Eyalites have begun to disappear, whisked up to serve as their slaves and playthings. They imbue these victims with magical powers to better survive the ensuing stresses - can you use your new-found abilities to escape the legions of Mal'Rok?

Features:

  • Start with a new class, the Doombringer! These avatars of demonic destruction charge into battle with massive two-handed weapons, cutting swaths of firey devastation through hordes of opponents. Armed with flame magic and demonic strength, they delight in fighting against overwhelming odds, softening up the crowd with waves of fire, then feeding on the flames and suffering of their surroundings to stay alive while quickly reducing any group to a pile of ash and gore.
  • Unlock a new class, the Demonologist, with an all-new item enhancement mechanic! Bearing a shield and the magic of the Spellblaze itself, these melee-fighting casters can grow demonic seeds from their fallen enemies. Imbue these seeds onto your items to gain a wide array of new talents and passive benefits, and summon the demons within them to fight on your side! Ever looked at a gigantic demon-cursed minotaur and wished it was on your side for once? Well, now you CAN summon one to pound your foes into paste while you cast devastating spells from afar, or call forth a squad of Fire Imps to pelt your enemies to death while they exhaust themselves on your impenetrable defenses! Demons have persistent health, making them a little more precious than disposable necromancer skeletons or summoner beasts, but can be revived from death nonetheless.
  • Two new zones, with all-new art, foes, and bosses! You've seen the plains of the Fearscape before, now see the lairs and headquarters of the demons themselves!
  • Over 10,000 words of written lore to find! The demons were once an enlightened, peaceful race, hailing from a distant planet known as Mal'Rok; learn what drove them to plot Eyal's eternal torture! Discover monuments to each of the demonic species and noteworthy individuals, showing the place of honor each has among them! Get a glimpse into the culture and daily lives of these sadistic invaders and their brainwashed thralls!
  • Unlock a new race, Doomelves: Shalore who've taken to the demonic alterations especially well, corrupting their typical abilities into a darker form. Blink away to safety, transform into a shadowy dúathedlen to hide in the shadows or prey on your foes with blasts of darkness, use your new resilience to soak up status effects and critical hits, and assault your enemies' minds to leave them unsteady in combat!
  • Between the aforementioned classes and Doomelves, a whopping 75 new talents!

Not all adventurers seek fortune, not all that defend the world have good deeds in mind.
Lately the number of sightings of horrors have grown tremendously. People wander off the beaten paths only to be found years later, horribly mutated and partly insane, if they are found at all. It is becoming evident something is stirring deep below Maj'Eyal.
That something is you.

Forbidden Cults is a big expansion for Tales of Maj'Eyal to let you explore the horrors that lurk beneath the surface, to delve in long lost knowledge and lore and as usual to die a lot!


Forbidden Cults makes two new classes available to play:

  • Writhing One: Give in to the corrupting forces and turn yourself gradually into an horror, summon horrors to do your bidding, shed your skin and melt your face to assault your foes. With your arm already turned into a tentacle, what creature can stop you?
  • Cultist of Entropy: Using its insanity and control of entropic forces to unravel the normal laws of physic this caster class can turn healing into attacks and call upon the forces of the void to reduce its foes to dust.

Both those classes use a new resource called Insanity that gradually makes you both more chaotic and powerful as it fills up.


Forbidden Cults makes two new races available to play:

  • Drem: A corrupt subrace of dwarves, that somehow managed to keep a shred of sanity to not fully devolve into mindless horrors. They can enter a frenzy and even learn to summon horrors.
  • Krog: Ogres transformed by the very thing that should kill them. Their powerful attacks can stun their foes and they are so strong they can dual wield any one handed weapons.


Forbidden Cults adds many new zones for you to explore and die in:

  • Kroshkkur: An ancient Sher'tul Fortress laying half in ruins that serves as a focal point, and home, for all kinds of creatures seeking lost knowledge.
  • The Maggot: A huge living corrupted worm about to destroy Kroshkkur! Teleport inside and save your sanctuary of horrors!
  • The Godfeaster: Deep undergroud the ground shakes as ... -- redacted by corrupt forces --
  • The Scourge Pits: On the south of the Iron Throne lays a fool pit of ... -- redacted by corrupt forces --
  • Forbidden Tomes: Find special artifact books of ancient lore. But, read at your own peril, for the story they tell may very well suck you in... quite literally.
    Maybe you will even find The One That Writes...
  • Occult Egress: A strange, extremely old, contraption of unknown origin. It seems to require some kind of code sequence to activate. Maybe you will find some during your adventures?
  • The Entropic Void: So you think you are strong? Powerful? Invulnerable? In the end, entropy always wins, as you will learn...

    Description: Like the sun worshippers you have lived among, you protect yourself with a blessed shield - although yours is blessed with the darkness of the fearscape.
    This talent allows you to equip shields with magic, (which also determines their damage), and armour with cunning. It also increases weapon damage by 34% and physical power by 30 when using shields, and allows your melee attacks to have a 9% chance to be followed up by a shield bash with equal multipler (maximum 100%).
    Activate this talent to attack all foes in a small arc with weapon and shield for 100% damage as darkness.

    The total damage the barrier can absorb will increase with your Spellpower, and can crit. The number of affected targets improves with talent level.

    Description: You set up a powerful contingent defense, warding against future conflict against orcs, naga - or your uneasy allies in the rest of the sunwall.

    If damage would reduce you to zero, your wards activate; you are sealed behind a nearly impenetrable barrier, alive but with only one life, for 5 turns, during which you cannot act, and time will not pass for you.
    When this time ends, you will be renewed, healing for 7 life. If the effect ends early, the healing will be proportionally reduced.

    While you are healing, several weak demons will be summoned to aid you, randomly selecting 3 summons from fire imps, water imps, wretchlings, and quasits.
    These demons will return to the fearscape after 5 turns.

    Fire and Water Imps will get 15 Magic, 15 Cunning, and 15 Constitution.
    Wretchlings and Quasits will get 15 Magic, 15 Strength, 15 Willpower, 15 Cunning, and 15 Constitution.

    Your summons inherit some of your stats: increased damage%, resistance penetration %, stun/pin/confusion/blindness resistance, armour penetration.
    Your demons' stats will improve with talent level and your Magic, as will your healing. Demon count will increase with talent level. The demon quantity can crit, as can the heal.

    When the spell ends, only you and the target (if still alive) plus any loose objects are taken back to your home plane; all summons are left in the Fearscape.
    This powerful spell drains 5 vim per turn initially, increasing by +1 for each turn it has been active, and ends when your vim is depleted.
    It has no effect if cast from within the Fearscape.
    The damage will increase with your Spellpower.

    If this talent is not on cooldown, the cone of shadows will instead be radius 2, and stun all targets in addition to damaging them.
    For the purposes of applying the stun, you have 0 bonus spellpower.
    The damage will increase with your Spellpower.

    Description: The times are desperate enough that you can wield your powers somewhat openly, and you do so with a long dagger - reminiscent of a paladin's sword, but clearly different.
    This talent allows you to substitute Strength and Dexterity with Magic and Cunning for both damage and prerequisites when using knives. It also increases weapon damage with them by 34% and physical power by 30, and gives attack with knives a 9% chance to be dealt as fire damage. If they'd already do fire damage, they do improved damage over time instead. (75% normal initially, and 75% more over three turns.)

    Activate this talent to attack at a short range for 100% damage as fire. This will always trigger Black Faith's shield bash followup.
    Finally, you receive a 18 bonus to accuracy.

    This curse lasts for five turns, increasing everyone's chance to score a melee critical hit against them by 1%, improved by spellpower.
    While the target is in sight, anyone who knows this talent and isn't friendly to the cursed target also receives a 1% bonus to their spell and mental crit chance - but if they don't do noticeable damage to the affected target before the next tick, they suffer a penalty to critical chance of equal size for a turn.
    Finally, passively, whenever your critical chance is checked, excess critical chance is converted to bonus critical damage. The conversion is not linear.
    Your most recent such conversion changed 0% excess chance into 0% extra critical damage.
    Urh'rok's Curse

    While this talent is sustained, it is increased to 0% affinity, 0% of your damage is converted to fire, and you also gain 0% increased fire damage and -1% fire resistance penetration.
    When this sustain is deactivated, you launch a furious slash at the nearest foe within 0 (choosing randomly if there's a tie). This affects a cone with radius 0, dealing 110% weapon damage as fire.
    This sustain cannot be active at the same time as the Blessing of Hopeless Hate, and costs 4 vim each turn to sustain.

    This will randomly cast a talent that is not on cooldown. It will cast any talent from the Corruption/Curses or Corruption/Hexes categories, or Urh'rok's Curse, putting them on a 21 turn cooldown, and not affecting you.
