I recently bought ToME and already I'm addicted. I really REALLY love fantasy book-like games in settings like ToME. I love to read a lot too. ToME is a rough tough roguelike that really brings out my imagination. (I prefer nightmare/roguelike difficulty) It reminds me so much of the many books I read in the Dragonlance and Shannara series. Honestly, I've been hunting through game store libraries for years now just to find a masterpiece like ToME. It has that Amiga version of the Forgotten Realms series unfairness and challenge. I could give into exploration or adventurer but it's so much more satisfying for me to strategize carefully as if it was my own life in danger (much safer than real life). The balance is excellent and very rewarding. There are so many ways to build your character too. I love the lore and how well written it is.
