This is a fork of Better Item Descriptions that simply makes the tooltip larger and uses long phrases instead of abbreviations.
It also works with zOmnibus's Inscription Compare feature.

- all rarity categories are displayed
- encumbrance value moved to the right under item name
- "on hit" powers always green
- "Stats" have an orange highlight and placed before others

This mod is not meant for new players. If you ask what part of a description means, everyone gets to laugh at you.

However, feel free to suggest better phrasing.

Cleaner Item Descriptions 1.7.0

Class: Spellweaver 1.7.4

Adds the Spellweaver, a Mage subclass who creates custom spells with Spellweaving components.
For example, a Spellweaver might make a spell using the Fire element, the Beam shape, and the Damage Over Time effect to make a simple Damage over Time Fire Beam. However, spells can get vastly more complicated, with things like a "Grand Checkerboard of Eclipsing and Feverish Wallweaving and Prismatic and Radiat Lingering Harm" if you want to be way over the top.
Additionally, Spellweavers can make shielding and teleportation spells with components too, although all three types of spells use the same slots.
Spellweavers who are Humans, Elves, Dwarves or Undeads will also begin in Wovenhome in the East and have a special dungeon to start the game.

Resourceful Wanderers 1.7.4

Help Wanderers make use of trees which are otherwise hard or impossible to use due to:

  • Insufficient or non-existent resource generation.
  • Other dependant talents.
  • Missing mastery talents.
  • Missing items.
  • Anything specific, like Chronomancy/Spellbinding and such.

Any time a category or tree is learned which is dependant on something specific that you don't already have, one or multiple 'Wanderer' trees will be granted locked as well.

These trees are usually at x0.8 mastery, and can have less or more than 4 talents, learnable out-of-order.

Wanderer trees can be removed under certain conditions, and this will fully refund category and talent points. The exact conditions are detailed in each tree's description.

Every Wanderer now knows the Shoot talent from the get-go, and starts with iron mail armour in addition to everything else.

One year has passed since the one the Orcs call the "Scourge from the West" came and single-handedly crushed the Orc Prides of Grushnak, Vor, Gorbat, and Rak'Shor.  The Allied Kingdoms, now linked by farportal to their distant, long-lost Sunwall allies, have helped them conquer most of Var'Eyal.  The few remnants of the ravaged Prides are caged...  but one Pride remains.  Kruk Pride, isolated on an island, is the last orcish settlement that stands; they, too, face their impending doom.  The Sunwall has blockaded the only exit point from the island, and now, the technologically advanced civilization of Steam Giants have come down from the mountains to take their homeland with machines and weaponry unlike anything else on Eyal.  Kruk Pride has reverse-engineered their technology before; their only hope is to do it again and rise up against the Pride's foes.

Not all adventurers seek fortune, not all that defend the world have good deeds in mind.
Lately the number of sightings of horrors have grown tremendously. People wander off the beaten paths only to be found years later, horribly mutated and partly insane, if they are found at all. It is becoming evident something is stirring deep below Maj'Eyal.
That something is you.

Forbidden Cults is a big expansion for Tales of Maj'Eyal to let you explore the horrors that lurk beneath the surface, to delve in long lost knowledge and lore and as usual to die a lot!


Forbidden Cults makes two new classes available to play:

  • Writhing One: Give in to the corrupting forces and turn yourself gradually into an horror, summon horrors to do your bidding, shed your skin and melt your face to assault your foes. With your arm already turned into a tentacle, what creature can stop you?
  • Cultist of Entropy: Using its insanity and control of entropic forces to unravel the normal laws of physic this caster class can turn healing into attacks and call upon the forces of the void to reduce its foes to dust.

Both those classes use a new resource called Insanity that gradually makes you both more chaotic and powerful as it fills up.


Forbidden Cults makes two new races available to play:

  • Drem: A corrupt subrace of dwarves, that somehow managed to keep a shred of sanity to not fully devolve into mindless horrors. They can enter a frenzy and even learn to summon horrors.
  • Krog: Ogres transformed by the very thing that should kill them. Their powerful attacks can stun their foes and they are so strong they can dual wield any one handed weapons.


Forbidden Cults adds many new zones for you to explore and die in:

  • Kroshkkur: An ancient Sher'tul Fortress laying half in ruins that serves as a focal point, and home, for all kinds of creatures seeking lost knowledge.
  • The Maggot: A huge living corrupted worm about to destroy Kroshkkur! Teleport inside and save your sanctuary of horrors!
  • The Godfeaster: Deep undergroud the ground shakes as ... -- redacted by corrupt forces --
  • The Scourge Pits: On the south of the Iron Throne lays a fool pit of ... -- redacted by corrupt forces --
  • Forbidden Tomes: Find special artifact books of ancient lore. But, read at your own peril, for the story they tell may very well suck you in... quite literally.
    Maybe you will even find The One That Writes...
  • Occult Egress: A strange, extremely old, contraption of unknown origin. It seems to require some kind of code sequence to activate. Maybe you will find some during your adventures?
  • The Entropic Void: So you think you are strong? Powerful? Invulnerable? In the end, entropy always wins, as you will learn...

Choose your Alchemist Elixir quest rewards at character creation, and configure your Rod of Recall to take you directly between pre-Dreadfell points of interest.

This add-on does not affect game balance or difficulty. All races and classes with required starting zones must still complete those before they can take advantage of the new Rod of Recall functionality.

Note: Unfortunately the only time that addons can get the possible escort types is after the random escort quest is assigned.
This means escorts added by other addons will not be available for selection, but will still be possible to find using the random selection.

      This addon adds more 1H staff egos that are based on some of the existing 2H staff egos, but with some of the bonuses toned down.
      Also slightly expands the number of staves available in staff stores to account for the wider variety.

      Many in Maj'Eyal have heard of "demons", sadistic creatures who appear seemingly from nowhere, leaving a trail of suffering and destruction whereever they go.         All damage and effect chances are multiplied by Spellweave Multiplier.

When you use a Spellwoven spell that uses the Cold, Lightning, or Wind and Rain elements, the Hailstorm increases in power, increasing its damage by 0.0% of the damage of that spell (at most 0 per turn). This power decreases by 5% each turn down to the base values. When you cast a Spellwoven spell not including these elements, you unleash the power of the Hailstorm, resetting its damage and immediately dealing 67% of its stored damage with a chance to freeze enemies to the ground or daze them for 3 turns. These chances are based on the Wind and Rain talent, but increase with the power of the Hailstorm, and Stun and Pin resist are halved to resist these effects.

        Description: Any sailor knows that the seas of Eyal carry hurricanes and storms that can swallow ships and that even the strongest mage couldn't control. You know that the most powerful storms cannot be controlled, merely unleashed.
        Your Cold and Lightning resistance penetration is increased by 0.0%. Gain the Wind and Rain element, which deals 96 damage (from the Wind and Rain talent), divided equally among Cold and Lightning and multiplied by Spellweave Multiplier. Wind and Rain damage has a -10% chance (multiplied by Spellweave Multiplier) to surround targets with an Icestorm, halving their Pinning and Stun resistance and dealing 5 damage, equally divided between Cold and Lightning to every enemy around them in radius 3 for 4 turns.         Description: Although gravity is a force constantly affecting all of us, most don't realize its sheer power. However, the perfect combination of physical and temporal magics can result in some incredible force.
        Gain the Gravitic element, which deals 20 damage, divided equally among Physical and Temporal and multiplied by Spellweave Multiplier. This damage also pushes targets 1 tiles away from the center of the spell (or you if the spell uses lingering damage or is a beam or otherwise is moving away from you) and inflicts Gravitic Exhaustion for 1 turns, reducing the target's knockback resistance by -8%. If a target is slammed into a wall by Gravitic damage, they take an additional 20% of base damage as Gravitic damage. Knockback distance and gravitic exhaustion power are modified by Spellweave Multiplier (but knockback distance is minimum 1).
        Additionally, gain the Gravitic (Pull) element, which deals an increased 22 Gravitic damage, multiplied by Spellweave Multiplier, pulls targets 1 tiles, and inflicts the same Gravitic Exhaustion effect, but does not deal additional slam damage.

Manastorm damage also has a -10% chance to surround targets with an intense storm of mana, draining 2 resources from the target (scaling based on resources, listed below) and every enemy around them in radius 3 for 4 turns, and restoring mana based on the highest of the resources drained (see the scaling below). The chance of inflicting manastorms reduces by 15% for each manastorm present on the level.

Unlike the uncontrolled teleportation practiced by Archmages, you will always be able to control where you are targeting, but you still have a 42% chance to fail when attempting to teleport to places you cannot see (chance affected by the Threaded Understanding talent). Spells that have precision will be divided by Spellweave Multipler and modified by your precision modifier, 70%, which is improved by the Threaddancce talent.
        Range scales with spellpower and talent level. Bonuses that grant a buff will not stack.
