Ooh, voratun. I hear you man. There's always some point where you get about a million stralite battleaxes...
Every other Cursed skill can be used with all melee weapons, not just axes.
Thank you guys, appreciate the response! I never thought much about stun resistance or physical saves preventing me from being encased in ice.
The most important thing is a high stun resistance, cold resistance does not help against freezing attacks or stuns. You may also use a movement inscription, but it usually has a low duration. Another trick is to increase your global speed (boots of speed or speed rune for example, but not both); this may help to reduce the duration of a freezing attack.
Against Wrathroot, I don't mind the freezing spell if he is distant: you may be able to avoid the bolt, and his other attacks are only close range attacks (distance <=3 for the spells). A deadly combination is a close range freeze attack (Ice Storm spell for example) and stuns.
Just pump Berserker to level 5... and it'll give you 65% stun resistance. And pinning resistance too...
Try getting stun resist up or increasing physical saves. If you still have a hard time you can just skip the dungeon. There are now enough dungeons you can skip a few of the harder ones.
But 70 poison on hit is amazing.
I've seen Icy Icy arrows before.
Woh :)
Actually, I've realised that bosses aren't that hard if you use Stunning Blow continuously. Usually I put lots in CON, but in that particular game I put a disproportionally large amount in STR so I could use the stralite greatmaul I picked up really early. I'm really a sucker for the fast-regen talents, too, and I tend to max them out as soon as I'm done maxing the basic two attacks.
Survival over damage.
If you have the choice to wear an item that gives stun resist or saving throw bonuses or one that increases your damage go for the former. Also 300 hit points seems kinda low for a berserker at that level. You should be investing in Con and the health talents already (zerkers really have no better place for stats then strength and con and this is part of the reason they're an easy mode class).
So no, bosses don't need to be toned down pteriforever. Your play style needs to be adjusted. An old adage I used to tell the dpsers in my WoW guild. You do no damage when you're dead.
Godspeed man, hope everything goes well for you, and see you soon!
I dunno your personal circumstances, but thank you so much for your efforts in the community! Looking forward to your speedy return! :-)
Though I think guides are useful, as you said, the game is changing much too rapidly at the moment to make them worth while. But with a release candidate these things can definitely add a huge amount of value for noobs like me.
Racial talent trees... I love the concept, and I do think that they'll add a lot of richness to the game.
I love the arena... Got to lvl 20 once. But it is so hard, and is vastly different from the "real" game. I still want to try a fighter, because armor helps a LOT.
Artifact sets are something that adds a great deal of richness to the game. Hope it gets more focus later...
Bosses are a serious threat, even if all the "mooks" in the dungeon up to that point are just cannon fodder. The worst mooks in the old forest are the snake pits, and they're just a matter of not getting mobbed in the open and keeping an eye on your regen. Wrathroot is a whole order of magnitude more difficult, especially if he's got regen.
Id recommend adding 5-10 levels before confronting any of the "beginner" area bosses in b20. (So around level 17-27). Been busy playing Elona lately so haven't been playing b20 much but it seems much much harder than previous tomes and the frustration level spiked a bit, so I am waiting until the shops situation gets fixed at least (though not holding my breath) before I get back into this again.
I hate Wrathroot. He just pretty much oneshotted my Level 12 Berserker with a freeze-stun-knockback combo. Seriously, I was on full health beforehand, and I had absolutely no chance to react. No turns to do anything. 300+ HP with maxed Fast Metabolism. It was my last life too :'(
And if it's not Wrathroot it's the Minotaur...
It took me a while to figure it out too
Don't know how it is in the very newest version, but in .18 I would simply lead her back behind the pillar where you start out, and then teleport away. She would stay there while I could clear a path through the crypt at leisure. Worked well enough.
Had an archmage in .19, by the way, who somehow reached level 30 when quest was first offered. And he _failed_, the acolytes had too many hitpoints to kill in the timeframe. I did not run to heal or anything, stood bravely and poured spells into them, had an area spell too but to no avail. R.I.P girl.
Thanks sooooooo much!
Not really - he nuked a single d - that's hardly an achievement.
I saved her with my Summoner (being careful to have a few summons before going down the stairs).
But while I had a heal other talent, instead I used the talent to reveal the map from afar. Then it was a simple but tedious case of tunneling to the stairs.
Her favorite trick was swinging in front of me while I was trying to distance summon something to save our lives. Which meant I got to switch places with her, eat a spell, and then summon my blocker. If I couldn't have healed her with nature spells it would have been impossible.
I was on top of the world with my level 19 zerker. He was unstoppable, until some unsavory knockback landed him into the sand and sealed my fate.
My first time ever being to that place, so now I know for next time.
My only character who ever managed to kill the 4 cultists within 30 turns was an archer. But then Melinda got killed when we were attempting to find the exit. Apparently being a prisoner of deranged cultists had sucked out her will to live. Or maybe she had Stockholm syndrome. She seemed to like taking arrows meant for cultists.
