    Fortification dont block dot damage
    I know it is written in the description that it doesn't. I just wonder why dot damage is so *special* . There are tons of dot damage in the late game, which are quite lethal. This means this class only have raw resistance to fight against dot throughout the game.

    This addon is fantastic in its mechanism and idea. Before playing this class, I have thought it is a hard class to start but with huge late game bonus. But I was wrong, this class is very hard to play in the early game, mid game and end game.
    Why? Because point investment is a disaster. You have to fully invest 10+ non battle skills to be a functional "Artificer", but these points wont give any direct boost to battle strength. The benefits of these investment can only be expected in the ultra late game. During most of the game, crafted gears are not better than battle drops.
    Artificer is excellent in ego manipulation. The ego extraction mechanism is good, but without mechanism of fusion formula, ego extracting is very unreliable. Because rare egos drops *rarely*.We need some kind of formula to create rare egos from common ones.
    Even for the battle side, it is still very point consuming. To start early game, you have to rely on item casting, buy item casting is quite limited in the mid game and end game. You still need to invest on weapon skills. However, if you don't find proper weapon of proper egos, the weapon investment is a waste, because this class is really poor at melee combat: long cd, poor multiplier, no aoe, no movement, no recovery. And all passive skills that enhance you need to be FULLY invested.

    I have played many insane Artificers, only one past 30 lvl by far. And the only char even haven't craft any piece of armor or weapon yet.

    Yes, some crashes and windows placement problems (on X11 and Wayland). I switch on the windows version thanks to Proton and the game run like a charm.

    There's also the ability to learn all the lore from previous characters. That's quite helpful for certain **no spoilers** things that require tracking down the various items of lore and waiting for random drops to get them to you.

    I also have this issue with items deposited in the vault disappearing. All logs say everything was successful, I don't get any error messages, but the item does not show up in the vault or in my inventory. I have noticed that characters which I created in v1.7.4 of the game don't have this issue and can deposit items into the vault successfully. Only new characters I created in v1.7.5 have this issue.

    Thanks for following up on this. That does indeed look like the issue. I assumed it was an artificer issue since my other character could put items in the vault successfully, but maybe because that character was created in an older version it wasn't affected by the general 1.7.5, not sure.

    I have been having a blast with the Artificer, thanks for creating such a fresh new class.

    I'm also having item vault issues, can't withdraw anything and anything I deposit just disappears and never goes to the vault

    Are you running ToME version 1.7.4 or 1.7.5?

    If it's 1.7.5, it might be related to the current bug that is affecting ToME 1.7.5 as a whole, and not necessarily related to this Artificer addon.

    Edit: yep, looks like you're already running ToME 1.7.5, since some of your characters, including 2 Artificers, are saved under 1.7.5.

    I have noticed that items put into the vault from my Artificer disappear. I have not tried to put any crafted items in there, simply artifacts and gems. My other characters can put items into the vault and my artificer can withdraw them. I assume this is a bug rather than intended.

    I don't have any guarantee this will fix your problem, but I've also heard that changing your tile size can fix the issue. Maybe not permanently, but more as a reload thing.

    Hi there. There's a lot salty people in the comments here. I just thought I'd drop some tips on how to get past your lake Nur issues.

    The zone is really not very friendly. It has pretty abysmal loot most of the time (I've been surprised, but loot isn't what I come here for). The main purpose is generally to use the vault. The storage option is... there. But really, it's mostly pointless. Most of your inventory can probably be sold since the majority of items won't be things you will ever come back to use. Managing inventory I think is a better way of handling it than just coming here to drop stuff.

    As for the vault, I always consider what I even have in my vault. I don't have a lot of inventory space and I generally only save items for when I want to do a big meme run. If there's nothing in the vault you need, I'd recommend just putting off visiting lake Nur until you're so strong the difficulty of the place is trivial. Coming here early is dangerous.

    You can get around needing underwater items entirely here. Some classes have abilities that really help out. Some don't. There are items that can help too. If you -need- items or certain skills to get through it safely, don't try to go before you have them! Burning Crystal is amazing. Omniscience does the trick. Anything that can reveal the map will let you scout ahead for the exits. If you want to make your life easier without items, just relying on water bubbles, do not auto rest or auto explore. Both of those actions will make you wait longer than you should in most cases. Don't rest on bubbles. If you're at full air and you rest a turn on bubbles, you're wasting the uses. Moving manually lets you skip exploring every tile so you can focus on exploring the big spots, conserving air and making you more likely to find the staircase quicker.

    If you're really wanting to vault something, I'd still recommend just waiting until you've beaten the game to do it, or maybe finishing the zone off after you come back from the East. Relying on the vault to win is a bad habit to get into. Relying on it for memes is the best use if you ask me :)

    That said, don't forget to check your shops for items. Breathe underwater and items that make you act like an undead are pretty commonly sold in shops. If you haven't been checking, star getting in the habit! The shops add new items for sale on level 10,20,30,40,and 50.

    no one cares how you play your game, why do you care about how others play theirs? this game has difficulty options, unlocks, donation unlock, and mods support.

    For some reason ever since 1.7.5 patch many of my items won't transfer over and I get an error message saying "Server said: Unknown reason". I went to look at my item vault here on the website and two items I tried to transfer displayed as ? instead of having the typical item picture. Is there a way to fix this on my end?

    Omg yes, I thought I was going crazy as tome began starting up progressively worse on my system... Takes a lot of restarts to actually boot the game for me sometimes. I don't think this used to be the case 1-2 years ago with the 64bit version.

    Bug

    For some reason, when I start a new class as the charmed, the starting area is all comepletely white and I cannot see anything. It's like a fog of war that I cannot see underneath. A total bummer :<

    Can confirm, though I didn't make the connection to the difficulty level. I was baffled, because I'd tested the add-on before without any problems. Instead, I went back testing the various updates until update 3 finally worked, but didn't offer any other options or menus.

    When making a char on normal the addon will not function and causes an error. I tried without other addons, the only difference to whether or not it work was setting the difficulty to normal vs nightmare and above. Also the ingame description for the difficulty increase could be clearer but that's a minor issue.
