Thoughts on corruptors
Well after losing several characters and lives to elven blood mages and orc corruptors I figured it was time to try one (or a few as is the case). The first thing I found out was that willpower was useless. Despite the fact that their primary stats are Magic and Will, it more along the lines of Magic and Con. beginning game was the most annoying part to date. At that level the character has one way to gain Vim (blood sacrifice) and it only gives you 20-30 at early level and 20-30 is 1-2 spells (maybe three weak ones). blood sacrifice also has a 25 turn cool down so fights involve lots of running. Once drain is available this isn't so bad.
corruptors can hit really hard as most characters that have reached the far east have found out. They are generally better with bolt spells but they can do a respectable amount of AOE with the blood tree. The biggest problem is crowd control but I believe the curse and hex tree fills that role (also diseases) but I have not invested in them.
The blood tree is the best tree for corruptors. blood spray is a large cone attack that has a high chance on infecting the targets with disease. The really great thing about blood spray is at talent level 5 it has range 11. since LOS has been reduced to 10 it is now possible to fire outside you LOS. If you also have boots of speed you can do this almost indefinitely (this is how I killed the master).
I ramble more later about this as I get to the far east

Oh pretty graphs! Realtime statistics by levels and class/race/...
Hi,
I just added a new feature to te4.org which uses the existing database of characters to offer statistic graphs of those characters split by levels.
I.e: you can check how many Archmages reach level 10 or compare the death curve of Cursed and Berserkers or .../
Well you get the point!
Check it out: http://te4.org/realtime-statistics-levels
archmage venture 4
Beat the Master. Unlocked Ghouls. He dropped the choker of dread! And a staff of absorption. Hey this looks handy, i can actually use it with a shield, i wonder why the item description says "i dare not use it myself". Oh well there are 2 vaults in the same level, i hope i won't die in there, some vaults are really hard. First vault was ok, second one is FULL of storm dragons accompagned with an elder wyrm that keeps churnign more, first turn i was surrounded by 4 drakelings, i should teleport and recall the hell outta here. But then again it's good XP. Blinded them, Inferno'd them from a distance, gained 1/3 of a level, picked up a LOT of gold from the spawned drakelings, got the achievement for 1 000 pieces. When the stream of drakelings ended i walked into the vault, saw the elite wyrm, cast some more blinds and flames, it veered off the end of my light radius, and when i dispatched it was nowhere to be found. Huh.
mbush! Dispatched of. Man, the scale Mail of Kroltar really was worth the Str investment. This staff must REALLY be important. A pity that when i first tried to use it i was silenced and nothing happened. I'll have to test what it does again. Waited ~400 turns. Oh, turns out it does nothing. And it uses up the 1000 turn timer. Great.
Oh hey i'm level 35 now, wow, 3 levels for killing the orc boss, not bad! I really don't know what to do with my generic points, i've maxed heal, Restoration and Nature's Call. And, to be perfectly honest, i totally forgot about them in this boss battle. Tidal Wave sure saved me though, i should try maxing it next.
Going back home to dump some stuff i run across a new dungeon called the spellblaze. No harm can come of this, i recently found the fire dragon shield, if there are blazes it should help. Wait, i got a random text message. I wonder what should i answer. Lol i ended up participating in a city siege! Well the corruptor guy died so this is pointless. At least some halfling dropped the Storm Bringer's Gauntles.
Meh, let's try those elven ruins instead. OK what the hell am i supposed to do with mummy wrappings?! Randomly found a fiery choker and the Bindings of the night at the third level. Oh, so wrappings is a kind of armor. No thanks, i'll stick with Kroltar thank you. Now the Fiery Choker lowers my cold resist but on the other hand the vampire ally has proved somewhat weak so far. Tough choice. Oh, well, found a portal to the surface. Looks like i killed a boss without kowing it. Guess it was one of those flamable mummies.
After visiting a couple of towns i lost the staff of absorption but i have e new dungeon to explore. Hope it's not too hard. It wasn't. Whoah, there's a blue @ following me! Oh, it just wants to chat and give me a scroll. Bah, i'll erad it later, there's still a room to explore. A bunch of portals and an artifact. Bah, it was an orange one. Let's read the scroll. Turns out i have to use the portal to go east.
Now i have to help an elf lady. I'm feeling quite railroaded. Personally elves have cost me far more lives than orcs and i'm inclined to wipe out the elf lady instead. But ok she unlocked a new class for me. OK, i'll let that slide. Look, a new world map. I should take a break.
archmage venture 3
The beast beast guarding the last floor of the lake was too powerful. Gotta level up a bit. Remembered i hadn't visitede Kor'pul. Piece of cake. All the way down the forest, then the lake, the second time the best fell without problems. Did the arena and the storming the city quest. The tempest went down easily - then i run into an elite storm drake that spawned a bazillion dragons who spawned drakelings. Took me 20 minutes to clear that mess. There's also a vault on this level. Illuminate's blind is really good in a tough spot. No loot of interest. Guess it's time to recall. Finished the apprentice task since i was in Angolwen. It's time to do the sandworm deathtrap. I should take a small brak first.
---
Cleared it without deaths. Unlocked the wyrmic class! Daikara level 1 i escorted a thief. Hard choices as usual. I remember last time i had picked disarm traps but that doesn't work unless you detect the trap first (obviously). So it's either detect traps or Heightened Senses. Bah, i'll get featherwind to level 4 soon, it says it can avoid some traps. I'll try Heightened Senses this time.
Found a temporal rift and unlocked the Temporal Warden class. Gained a couple of levels too, got Feather wind to level 4. I really don't know where to spend my class talent points anymore.
---
Unlocked the Yeek race. But i can't seem to be able to proceed down the tunnel. Visiting Dreadfell. Raided a vault, too much loot, gotta drop some stuff, hard choices, maybe i should put an extra point into featherwind. Why not put an extra point into illuminate while i'm at it.
Walked back to Sharatul to dump some blue stuff and ended up getting the crypt quest. Lost 5 lives because i went down the tairs without noticing the timers on illuminate and tidal wave hadn't cooled down. And i ended up faiiling the quest anyway. I'm bitter, calling it a day.
Christian the Level 18 Dwarf Berserker
This'll be my first blog post, so here goes. He was the best character I've played yet, and I figured he deserved a decent burial. He accomplished what he set out to do, unlocking the Infinite Dungeon and the Cursed and Wyrmic classes. He attained antimagic at level 12 (if memory serves me), and completed the challenge two more times immediately after just for fun. Well, that's enough of a funeral for a virtual character, so may he rest in peace and I'm off to try out the Wyrmic class. Wish me luck.

Ryuuji the Cornac Wyrmic
So far, I've been playing Ryuuji the Cornac Wyrmic as a rather unusual sword swinger with lots of tactical options for softening up tough enemies. He just finished off the Sandworm Queen which bumped Sand talent mastery up to 1.40. Now Ryuuji's Willpower stat is getting into the territory where he can start putting class points into Breath attacks. He's kind of spread out all over the different wyrmic talent trees at present. All in all, he's a fun character to play, but got off to a rather slow start and is somewhat hampered by the lack of stun resistance.
A Day in the Life of a Very Different adventurer.
Ok so there were three adventurer's in the small farming village of Derth...
"Wait a second THREE adventurers, have you been messing around with the new party code"
Nope, in fact its not even me controleing these guys
"Don't tell me your going to make personalitys for the shopkeepers"
Well i will be but thats beside the point. As you can probabbly tell by my profile I'm not nearly good enough to start a proper DitL and this isent one.
"Well what the -beep- is this then"
Roleplaying.
"Wait; what"
I'm trying to run a table-top RPG based of of the game.
"Ok..."
Well if i could finally get stearted. There were three adventurer's in the small farming village of Derth one was a Marshwiggle, one a dragon of indeterminate scale and one was a perfectly normal human (who could shoot lasers out of her eyes).
"Thats takeing the -beep-"
I will admit this is the group where i lumped everyone whos charicter proposals were jokes. Oh also the dragon has a 5 point penalty in Obsession(shiney) and Desire(hat), just be thankfull that the "paladin like dood with a HUGE sword and shiny armour, chaotic neutral i think, and can do magic" decided not to turn up.
As with any group of adventurers the first thing they decided to do was to try and buy half the town for the handful of loose change they had, but as Bretnar (the weapon shop owner) told them, those shiney little disks are no good here, we wan't gold.
"Wait a sec, how do they have foregin currency"
They were on a stelth mission to a wizards mansion, and decided to break down the door they had a key to.
"Wait so they allready have experiance and stuff"
Yes but then again they smashed down a door they had the key to on a stealth mission.
"Point."
Thank-you, fictional reader.
After realiseing there money was worthless, they decided to go to the largest building in town, which as anyone who's played ToME before v.4 will tell you is the mayors residence.
As the party arived in Mayor Frederick's house, they realised something was wrong, there seemed to have been a town defence meeting recently, and it haden't been cleared up.
As it turned out the old wizards tower of Kor-pul had had it's first inhabitents for over 200 years, and they were undead legions.
"What where did all this come from"
Well telling a RP group "Welcome to ToME, Quest added hit 'j' to see it" dosen't quite work (well unless there the kind that thinks that if you cant solo a group of 4-6 Wyrms you need a few more stat points and a few more 10 point feers of spesific non-terestial objects, and winges if any of them are even mentioned in game) so I had to do something, I've worked out the plot up to the Staff so far but you'll have to wait for that.
The dragon [Scaeles] quickly decide to go there, as well as noticeing that the mayor had a nice hat, and scared him somewhat. At this point the mayor decided to try to send them on there way sooner rather than later and so gave them the warning that when the town watch went for a scout, that the trolls left there mire and trapped them inside for the slaughter. He oferd them a place to sleep and also told them he whould try to help them with Kor-pul if they could wipe out the troll that the undead had controle over (2 of 3 party members passing a pursuade attempt- I had to give them something).
They then went in quick sucssion to the rune weapon and armour shops asking for free stuff to help defend the village, [has any DM EVER been that nice?] but all they got was the promise of a discount on armour should they find out about oknars [armoursmiths] brother who went off to the trollmires to try to save the village after the watch had been ambushed [I want'ed to build in the existing lore if at all posible].
The village had a cartographers in it, exactly as in FuryBand (which you should ALL have played), and when asking him for a map of the continent, (um no) not only was i surprised they had realised (or looked at my notes) that they had gone a long way but I realised i dident want them wandering around for weeks, so I gave them a 15x15 map centered on Derth.
After resting for the night and eating there second to last days worth of food, they decided to have a look at kor-pul or "lets go to the broken tower thing".
ok thats three squares away so d10 three times tell me if you get a 10, 7, 10 ok so something in the second killometer, d100 to see what it is.- rolls*
- long pause*
- gulps*
double zero.
Ok, you see a trapdoor and crys for help comeing from within.
Ok that was this weeks session (well half of it but were on break next week and I wan't to try to keep this regular) so come back soon for more tale of Scales, Lasermage! (the exclamation mark is an essential part of the name) and grimflood, in next weeks episode in which the party will find a stone.
Any comments whould be appricited and for those of you who are interested we are running a modifyed version of the wildside system with completly redone item generation and pre"generated" levels, although escorts and random quests will still be random. Also Darkgod if you do reed this and object I will steer the campain off of your game as quickly as possible.

Wow level 1 was hardto reach. I had to hug the stairs, so it saved every time I went to rest.
Woot, killed my first boss. the rich hivemother. I nearly ran away and did the other dungeon butI stuck with it. It was.
use my 3 buffs
Go down stairs
Hit twice
go up stairs
Repeate.
Most of my DPS comes from temporal sheild, so my strategy consists of letting them whale on me until they die. then using stop to run away and heal.

How to get rid of a winner with style
Before even downloading b20 I wanted to have some more fun with my b19 mindslayer winner.
I always wanted to kill these lvl50 unique npc in towns, and so I happened to find myself slaying these lowish mages in Anglowen before facing Linaniil...
After hitting her for some thousands of damage without taking any real damage I started to wonder if she is invulnerable, then I hit her some more.
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen casts Phase Door.
The spell fizzles!
Dekar hits Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen for 151.25 physical damage.
Dekar hits Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen for 11.87 nature damage.
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen slows down.
Dekar hits Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen for 121.74 light damage.
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen deactivates Disruption Shield.
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen disruption shield collapses and then explodes in a powerful manastorm!
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen hits Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen for 22052.07 arcane damage.
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen killed Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen!
You feel a surge of power as a powerful creature falls nearby.
Dekar casts a protective shield just in time!
Your premonition allows you to raise a shield just in time!
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen hits Dekar for 16522.32 arcane damage.
Linaniil, Supreme Archmage of Angolwen killed Dekar!
22.000 damage. Yeah, well ... that was a worthy death I guess.
My first winner: Linaniil saves the day!
I finally did it! I won my own game!
And it was a blast, this makes me feel proud of my game, it might not be modest but heh, it's true!
